Guy’s Cliffe SSSI field excursion

We will explore the spectacular Guy’s Cliffe exposures of the Warwick Sandstone on the banks of the river Avon, recently conserved by the Friends of Guys Cliffe volunteers. The Helsby Sandstone, (formally the Warwick, or Bromsgrove Sandstone), exhibits outstanding examples of cross-bedding giving participants the opportunity to unravel the type and size of the rivers from which these were deposited and search for rhynchosaur fossil remains previously known from here.
